My future plan as a writer (short version)
While growing up, I was suggested lots of career options by my family, teachers and other well wishers. Doctors, engineers and civil servants topped the list. No doubt these careers are promising but these career options didn't fascinate me. Since childhood I had an excellent flair for writing. My teachers appreciated it but they never suggested me to take writing as a career option. And I wouldn't blame them for it. There was a time when writers struggled to make their both ends meet, let alone affording a luxurious life. But gone are those days now, thanks to the internet era we are living in. As someone who has recently got her first stipend, I find myself eligible enough to write about my future plans about content writing.
Taking writing as a career option was not easy. But the 9to5 job was never my cup of tea. Writing has always been a passion for me. And I decided to turn this passion to my profession. No doubt it took me sometime and a lot of research to finally arrive at a conclusion. However, now I am very sure of what I want in my life and how to achieve it.
When I initially started looking for content writing internships online, I immediately realised that the journey will not be an easy one. The well established companies and websites looked for experienced content writers. Fortunately, there were some companies who offered internships based on the performance of the applicants in the sample assignments provided by them. I used to put my heart and soul in all the sample assignments, but at the same time I decided to be thick-skinned to face rejections. Fortunately, I have been offered content writing internships based on my writing skills. These internships gave me a low stipend but a great deal of knowledge. However a heavy pay check is not my priority- at least not for now. My employers taught me what kind of writing is appreciated by the readers.
Now that I have gained some experience in writing, I want to take my career to the next level. I have started applying for reputed companies and websites. My immediate plans are to keep writing for websites and gain enough knowledge. This will also help me build a portfolio. I have always been inclined towards entrepreneurship. I am an aspiring blogger and few years from now, I see myself owning a travel blog. I want to guide aspiring writers and provide them with work opportunities.
P.S- Will soon update this post in detail. Right now busy with exams.
